Yolo Bypass Butterfly

We finally went to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area again (see previous post), hoping to see herons and avocets and sandpipers and redwinged blackbirds again. Unfortunately, the ponds had mostly turned to cracked deserts, so, no birds. I guess that’s the difference between late April and late August! Plus the awful drought, of course. The flowers were pretty though, and I did spot this one monarch, resting.
