Indiana: Paoli, Lick Creek Cemetery, Marengo Cave

Today I’m sharing the photos from a brief trip, in summer of 2004, back to the “homeland”: Paoli, Indiana (and nearby), the source of all those Chicago-land Lindley folk. Of course we talked genealogy a lot and geeked out at cemeteries (it’s a Lindley thing). The other draw is the cave(s)…

No one seems to know this, but Indiana has several awesome caves, the big famous one being Marengo Cave. They’re the first caves I ever visited, and the reason I later sought out cave attractions in Eastern Europe and Hawaii, and eventually went to Carlsbad Caverns. Many of the caves were closed due to recent rains, but we had a good time regardless!
